Duplicacy is a self-hosted backup, sync and storage tool that you run on your own server instead of renting it as a cloud service. Because it runs on infrastructure you control, your data stays with you and there is no subscription required to keep using it.

Development happens in the open on GitHub; the repository has collected 5.7K stars so far. Repository activity was last recorded on Aug 6, 2026, and the project is classed as actively maintained in our snapshot.

Before you switch

Backup tools must be tested with a restore, not just a successful backup message. Run a trial recovery of one folder, verify checksums or snapshots, and store at least one copy off-site. Sync tools deserve the same care: test conflict behaviour with a throwaway file first.

Like every project listed on SelfHosted, Duplicacy is developed in the open — you can read the code, follow development, and even contribute. Check the system requirements and the project’s own documentation linked on this page before installing.
