A directory of software you run yourself.
SelfHosted lists 1,190 self-hosted apps and open source alternatives — every one of them software you can install on your own server, NAS or VPS.
Most software today is rented: you pay monthly, your data lives on someone else’s computers, and the service can change its prices or shut down whenever it likes. Self-hosted software is the older, quieter alternative — you install it yourself, you own the data, and it keeps working as long as your server does.
This directory exists to make that software easy to find. Listings are organised by what an app actually does, and every app page carries the facts that matter before you install: the official website and source-code links, repository stars, forks, and when the project was last active. Descriptions are written by us, in our own words, from public sources.
How listings are chosen
An app belongs here if it can genuinely be self-hosted and is actively tracked in public project data. We snapshot stars and activity from public repositories; numbers change over time, so treat them as a guide to a project’s health, not a guarantee. Always read the project’s own documentation before installing.
Companion apps
Alongside main applications, the directory lists companion apps — mobile apps, browser extensions and utilities that extend or help manage a self-hosted service. They are marked as Companion App on their pages.
SelfHosted is an independent project from FunnelCore Agency and is not affiliated with any of the projects listed.
