Channels DVR gives you a self-hosted media and streaming application: one you deploy yourself, on a home server, NAS or VPS. Running it yourself keeps the data on your own network and lets you back it up however you like.

Before you switch
Media servers live or die by transcoding performance and library organisation. Check the hardware-acceleration support for your GPU or NAS, and test with a small library first. Most tools scan standard folder structures automatically, so tidy naming pays off quickly.
